On the joyful occasion of Christmas, the St. Dominic Savio Community, Sector 3, came together to celebrate the true spirit of the season through fellowship, service, and compassion.
The celebration took place in two meaningful parts. In the first part, community members went house to house across Sector 3, singing Christmas carols and dancing in the streets. Every family actively participated, creating an atmosphere filled with joy, music, and togetherness. This initiative strengthened community bonds and encouraged maximum participation, making the celebration lively and inclusive.
The second part of the celebration involved a visit to MBA Foundation – God’s Abode, where around 35 inmates were present. Most of the residents were autistic, paralysed, and mentally challenged. The community spent quality time with the inmates and caretakers, assisting them in cooking and engaging in various joyful activities. The programme included carol singing, dancing, and a special dance session with Santa, where music was played and inmates enthusiastically joined in.
Fun games such as ball-and-bucket activities were organized, followed by gift distribution. Eco-friendly gift packets wrapped in newspaper were thoughtfully prepared and distributed. The gifts included soap, toothbrushes, chocolates, and other basic necessities, which were also extended to the working staff as a gesture of appreciation.
Both days of celebration concluded on a joyful and fulfilling note, with increased community participation and meaningful outreach. The core message of Christmas—spreading love, joy, and compassion—was truly achieved through these activities.
May this spirit of giving continue to inspire us all. -Catherine Varghese
