"To honor our grandparents is to honor the love, faith, and blessings that God has bestowed upon our families through them."
The St. Michael's Community celebrated Grandparents' Day on 19th July 2026, beginning at 5:00 p.m. This year, instead of gathering at one venue, the community chose a unique and meaningful way of celebrating by personally visiting the grandparents in their homes, making the occasion intimate, memorable, and filled with love.
Around 10 families were visited during the celebration. At each home, the Coordinator, animators and community members gathered with the grandparents and their families for a short prayer, seeking God's abundant blessings upon them. This was followed by the hymn "Showers of Blessing," invoking God's grace and love upon every household. As a token of gratitude and affection, each grandparent was presented with a small gift.
One of the most touching moments of the celebration was the heartfelt song rendered by our dear animator, expressing our love for our grandparents and reminding them of how precious and special they are to us. The song deeply moved the grandparents. Many were overwhelmed with emotion, some had tears in their eyes, while others joyfully joined in the singing and clapped along. Their smiles, their tears, beautifully reflected how much this simple act of love meant to them.
Though the house-to-house visits required time and effort, every visit became more than just a celebration. It became an opportunity to build relationships. In today's fast-paced world, where many elderly people long for companionship and meaningful conversations, this initiative became a beautiful reminder that love is best expressed through presence. The joy on the grandparents' faces and the warmth with which they welcomed us into their homes will be cherished forever.
The families received us with great warmth making us feel at home . Their wholehearted cooperation added beauty and success of this
We sincerely thank all the community members who generously gave their time on the visits, and contributed wholeheartedly. Their dedication, compassion, and spirit of service transformed this simple initiative into a beautiful experience that touched many hearts and created memories that will be treasured for years to come.
