Sacrament of Confirmation at STCJ Airoli with Bishop Stephen Fernandes

The Sacrament of Confirmation was solemnly celebrated at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, Airoli on 28 February 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
19 candidates received the Sacrament during a reverent and grace-filled Eucharistic celebration.
The Holy Mass was presided over by Most Rev. Bishop Stephen Fernandes, who was recently ordained to the episcopate. His presence made the occasion particularly significant for the parish community. Through the laying on of hands and the anointing with Sacred Chrism, the Bishop invoked the Holy Spirit upon the candidates, sealing them with His gifts and strengthening them in their Christian vocation.
In his homily, the Bishop exhorted the candidates to remain steadfast in faith, rooted in prayer, and committed to active participation in the life and mission of the Church.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Ribeiro, along with the catechists, had prepared the candidates through systematic catechetical instruction and spiritual formation. During the liturgy, the candidates renewed their baptismal promises and publicly professed their faith before the assembled faithful.
Parents and sponsors stood alongside them, affirming their continued support in the candidates’ journey of faith.
The celebration was conducted with dignity and devotion, enriched by the choir, liturgical ministers, volunteers, and the active participation of the parish community.
At the conclusion of the Eucharistic celebration, a brief felicitation was held. The parish community expressed its gratitude to the Bishop with a bouquet presentation, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony marking this joyful and memorable occasion.
The parish entrusts the newly confirmed to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, praying that they may grow in faith, bear witness to Christ, and contribute actively to the life of the Church.
