Football Champions Cup 2026 - Organized by BCS Airoli Unit

Our BCS Airoli Unit has been very active when it comes to events inside and outside the Church & this time they came up with an idea of organizing an inter-parish football tournament for all BCS Registered Catholics. The tournament was scheduled to be on the 26th of April, 2026 at Hatrics Euro School Turf 4, Sector 19, Airoli. The response for the tournament was great with 8 teams from 6 parishes (Airoli, Vashi, Kalwa, Kharghar, Nerul, Sanpada) participating in this tournament and it was expected to be fierce and competitive right from the first whistle. The event kick started with a beautiful inauguration ceremony, led by the BCS chairman Mr. Edwin Gras, the other BCS Members said a prayer, encouraged the participants and a special thanks was said to all the sponsors right from the cricket tournaments. The tournament kicked off with many exciting clashes, goals and saves & it was STCJ Divine Force Airoli and OLVC Nerul who ended up as the winners and runners up of Group A with 7 and 5 points respectively & with Sacred Heart Church, Vashi & DKC Kharghar A who ended up as the winners and runners up of Group B with 9 and 6 points respectively. The first semi final saw STCJ Airoli and DKC Kharghar go head to head, with a lot of heat and action both inside and outside the turf, it was team Airoli that held their cool to win the game 1-0 and to secure their place in the finals. The second semi final between Sacred Heart Church, Vashi and OLVC Nerul was decided via an own goal which was possibly the last kick of the match as team Vashi marched on to yet another final. The finals was a repeat of a game that had taken place multiple times over the last 10 years in different tournaments of different categories and it was between the 2 teams that were expected to be in the finals & the 2 best teams of the day who had scored the most and conceded the least in their respective games. All said and done, it was Sacred Heart Church, Vashi who came with a game plan and stuck to it to defeat team STCJ Divine Force Airoli 2-0 and to take home the winners trophy of the BCS Airoli Unit Football Champions Cup. The night ended with the prize distribution and photo ceremony wherein the BCS Members and Sponsors felicitated the winners and the runners up & also the individual winners - Top Goal Scorer Dexter Peters with 4 goals and Top Goalkeeper Sanath Poyyara with 0 goals conceded, both from Vashi. Players of both teams collected their well deserved medals and a trophy to cherish. The volunteers and everyone who helped making the tournament successful were thanked for all their efforts and Mr. Vendell Dsouza - our specialist photographer made sure to capture photos of every team and of every winner via his camera to make this even more memorable.

Overall, this was the first sports event under the BCS Airoli Unit and it will always remain special for every BCS Member who put their heart and soul into making this event a grand success.
