“Children’s children are a crown to the aged.” – Proverbs 17:6

On 18th July 2026, Our Lady of the Rosary Community came together to joyfully celebrate Grandparents’ Day, dedicating a special evening to honouring our beloved grandparents and senior citizens—the pillars of our families and living examples of faith, love, wisdom, and resilience.

Despite the challenging weather, the community gathered in large numbers, proving that love and togetherness can overcome every obstacle. The celebration brought together grandparents, senior citizens, children, youth, and families, creating an atmosphere filled with warmth, laughter, gratitude, and cherished memories.

The evening commenced with a warm welcome serving a box full of varied snacks followed by delightful performances by our children. Their energetic dances, melodious songs, and a beautiful keyboard performance filled the hearts of everyone present with pride and joy. Watching the younger generation express their love and appreciation through their talents made the occasion even more meaningful.

As a heartfelt token of gratitude for the immense love, wisdom, and blessings our grandparents bring into our lives, each grandparent was presented with a travel-sized glass water bottle along with a beautiful handmade greeting card lovingly prepared by our children. These thoughtful gifts reflected our appreciation and reminded them how deeply they are loved and cherished by the community.

Adding to the celebrations, our young-at-heart senior citizens delighted everyone by singing evergreen songs and dancing with infectious enthusiasm. Their joyful participation beautifully demonstrated that age is never a barrier to celebrating life and inspired everyone present to embrace each moment with happiness and gratitude.

The evening was further enlivened with fun-filled games, music, and interactive activities that encouraged laughter and strengthened the bond between generations. Every smile, every applause, and every shared moment reflected the spirit of unity and love that defines our community.

The celebration was made even more special through the generosity of one of our community members, who graciously offered her Learning Centre as the venue for the event. Her thoughtful gesture enabled us to comfortably accommodate the large gathering and provided a warm and welcoming space where families could come together to celebrate this beautiful occasion.

Behind this memorable celebration was the tireless dedication of our confirmation children and youth whose commitment, creativity, and teamwork transformed a simple gathering into a truly memorable experience. Their countless hours of planning and selfless service reflected the true spirit of community and fellowship.

Grandparents’ Day was not merely an event but a heartfelt celebration of love, gratitude, and togetherness. It reminded us to treasure the wisdom of our elders, encourage the enthusiasm of our children, and continue building a community where every generation feels valued, respected, and loved.

The Our Lady of the Rosary Community extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed to making this celebration such a memorable one. May God continue to bless our grandparents and senior citizens with good health, abundant joy, and countless blessings, and may our community always remain united in faith, hope, and love. -Mrs. Ronita Pinto
