Every year in February, the Catholic Church celebrates 'World Marriage Day', to honor the vocation of marriage and its role as the foundation of family life. This year it centered on the theme "Man and Woman He Created Them: Together with Purpose." Parishes globally often hold special blessings and renewal of marriage vows during Mass.

St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish - Airoli too, had its own unique celebration, organized by the Women's Cell of the parish. More than 15 couples came together to renew their marriage vows during the Holy Eucharist. It was celebrated by the Parish Priest, Fr. Samuel Ribeiro who welcomed, blessed and prayed for every couple who was present. His wonderful sermon, gave some food for thought and helped strengthen the marital bond, reminding that Marriage isn't between the two, but three, with Christ as its center.

It is is rightly said 'Wedding is for a day; Marriage is forever.' Every year as marriage vows are renewed, there is a fresh outpouring of blessings from the Holy Spirit. Every married couple is a foundation of a home, where love thrives in its fruits.

A small get-together was organized after mass with the help of a few youth volunteers. Right from fun games to Bollywood musical games, every bit kept the couples on their toes. Slicing of 4 cakes and a box dinner followed by a dance jam session made the evening a truly memorable one. There are very few evenings that married couples get for themselves, and this specially planned evening was simply beautiful.

Special thanks to Fr. Samuel, the women's cell core committee and the organizing team for this World Marriage Day Celebration, it was truly a beautiful celebration of love. -Mrs. Reema Vaz
