Airoli Super League Season 2
Updated: 8 hours ago
Airoli Super League Season 1 was a successful tournament with all football lovers asking for another auction based football tournament for the love of the world's most famous sport.
Similar to last year, it was a fun auction based tournament based on points with 2 existing and 2 new teams. Last season's winners and runners up continued with the same team names and captains. Savaryson Nadar (Supa Strikas), Rex D'souza (Mavericks), Aryan Colaso (Dribble Dragons) and Joshua Suryawanshi (Stellar Storm) were the captains of the 4 teams.
Each team captain was given a total of 5000 points to choose a team of 8 players in total including them out of which 6 would be on the field and 2 would play the role of a substitute. After the auctions on the 2nd of September, these were the teams that were formed; all with a single mission - to be the champions of the Airoli Super League Season 2.

The tournament kicked off on Sunday, 13th September at 5pm sharp at Hatrics New Euro School Turf, Sector 19, Airoli and it was expected to be even better than season 1 considering how well balanced all teams were with a mix of superstar players and debutants.
With 32 players and many spectators in attendance on an evening which had some unpredictable rain, we kicked off with the first match between Mavericks and Stellar Storm; both teams looked balanced on paper and the game ended in 1-1 draw with both teams settling for a point each after a fierce end to end battle.
The next match was between Dribble Dragons and Supa Strikas and after another intense clash, the game ended 1-1 with both teams sharing 1 point each making it 1 point per team at the end of Round 1.
Mavericks and Dribble Dragons took on each other next & Mavericks won the game 1-0 with an impressive set piece routine and in the process became table toppers with 4 points and with 1 round to go.
Stellar Storm and Supa Strikas went head to head next & the match saw Supa Strikas win comfortably with a score of 3-1 which meant they were the new table toppers with 4 points and a better goal difference.
Supa Strikas and Mavericks now played each other with a chance of both reaching the finals with a draw, however, it was Supa Strikas who played under no pressure and put on a show for everyone watching with a 3-1 victory and guaranteed themselves a place in the finals as table toppers.
The fate of Mavericks now depended on the last game of the league phase as both Stellar Storm and Dribble Dragons had a chance to qualify by winning with a goal difference of minimum 2 goals. After a goalless first half, gaps started opening up in the second half with both teams looking to attack and to get the crucial first goal. Stellar Storm took the lead, however, still needed another goal to qualify for the finals and they managed to score the 2nd goal and win 2-0 with the last kick of the game to qualify for the finals.
The finals was supposed to be a goal fest and it was the Stellar Storm who absolutely took everyone by a storm by winning 4-0 against Supa Strikas to be crowned the champions of the Airoli Super League Season 2.

Anlon Almeida (Stellar Storm) won the Golden Boot for scoring the joint highest goals (4) once again making it 2 golden boots in 2 seasons whilst being crowned as the champion both times. Zion John (Supa Strikas) was awared the Golden Ball for being the best player of the tournament and for also being the player with the most Goals and Assists (7). Vendell D'souza (Stellar Storm) was awarded the Golden Glove for the most clean sheets (2).
Overall, ASL 2 was a huge success and the team will be back with many more sports events very soon.
